World Cup Cricket finals

Posted by redracer on April 23, 2007

With the last Super 8 round is now behind us, it is time for the Semifinals.

England ended up with a surprise 1 wicket win over the Hapless Hosts (the West Indies), scoring 301 to their 300 in the last over. It was also the magnificent Brian Lara’s last game, so unfortunately that did not end on a good note, as he was run out for 18 in his last innings. Pietersen continued his good form with another century.

The final table is as follows …

1. Australia        7-0 14 points
2. Sri Lanka       5-2 10 points (ahead on run rate)
3. New Zealand  5-2 10 points
4. South Africa   4-3  8 points

So the two semi final matches will be between Australia and South Africa, and Sri Lanka and New Zealand. The winners of these two games will meet in the final.
