World Cup Cricket – Aussie thrash the Kiwis !!!

Last night, I managed to stay up and watch a fair bit of Australia’s last Super 8 round match against New Zealand, who thought they were very clever after winning the short New Zealand tour 3-0. At that stage, everyone had written off Australia as a serious World Cup competitor 😆
After posting a score of 348, Australia manged to bowl the Kiwis out for just 133 – a loss by 215 runs and a record One Day International loss for New Zealand.
Congratulations New Zealand
Except for the poor opener Fulton who scored 62 and was the last out, only 2 other batsmen managed to get double figures, and he had to stand there for the whole innings, watching a procession of Kiwis walking on and off the field in quick succesion – in fact they only lasted for just 25 overs 🙄
Except for Gilchrist getting out 2nd ball, Australia had a superb innings with Hayden playing ‘textbook’ cricket by scoring 103 and getting Man of the Match, and Hogg’s superb bowling of 4-29.
Australia now definately have the top spot out of the 4 finalists, and will play either Sri Lanka or South African in their Semi-final match 🙂
Other records broken by this match are
- the most number of One Day International matches played – Australias at 657 passing the previous holder Pakistan.
- the most consecutive World Cup wins at 21.
