I didn’t know there was a “Chimp Retirement Village” !!

Cheeta the chimpanzee, the animal star of 12 ‘Tarzan’ films in the 1930’s and 1940’s, has just celebrated his 75th birthday on April 9 😆
Officially the world’s oldest chimp, Cheeta is said to be in excellent condition at a primate centre in Palm Springs, California. Many Hollywood stars retire in the oasis of Palm Springs, where they wile away their golden years splashing paint on canvases, taking leisurely strolls, playing the piano, and flipping through the pages of magazines. Of course not every chimp in the world has had their age cataloged, so as far as I am concerned he can only be classified as the oldest “known” chimpanzee. His record is in the Guinness Book of Records though.
He was “discovered” by an animal trainer on a trip to Africa in the 1930’s and has outlived BOTH his human co-stars. Johnny Weissmuller, who played Tarzan, died in 1984 at the age of 79, and Maureen O’Sullivan, who played Jane, died in 1998 at 87. The average age foe a chimp is said to be 40-50, so he is doing well !!!
He even does paintings, and you can go to his web site (http://www.cheetathechimp.org/donate.html) to buy one of his works for US$125, which will help keep the centre running 😆
Here he is watching TV (an old ‘Tarzan’ movie?) in a home that is a lot more luxurious than mine 😡
I just want to know what happened to Clyde, from ‘Every Which Way But Loose’ and ‘Every Which Way You Can’ !!!!
