What a shock – England reach the ODI finals & it’s bye bye New Zealand !!!!

After a remarkable and unlikely winning ‘streak’ of 2 games, England have managed to squeeze past the favoured New Zealand to play Australia in the One Day International series finals – who would have though this possible just a week ago 🙄
Batting first, they put together a respectable score of 270, and despite some erratic bowling at the start, managed to bowl the Kiwis out for 256. Coincidently, the top scorers for each team, Fleming and Collingwood, both got 106 😀
New Zealand had previously appeared to be the better side, bringing it right up to Australia a couple of times previously …
In previous games, New Zealand made a total of 290, and were unlucky for Australia to make up the total with just 10 balls to spare. Ricky Ponting showed his superiority again with a score of 104, and Brett Hodge was unlucky to be stranded at the end on 99 not out from just 86 balls :sad:Before that, England were rejoicing in beating Australia for the first (and last) time 😆
Once again, they got a good score of 292, and then bowled Australia out for just 200. However it must be said that Pontoing did not play, and raging Roy Symonds had to retire hurt when he was making good progress in building up Australia’s total. It just goes to show how important Ricky Ponting is to the side 😀
